How we live

Covenant of Fellowship

Having been led by God, through the Holy Spirit, to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and desiring to unite in the worship, fellowship, and testimony with that portion of Christ’s spiritual body known as Community Bible Church, and having read and believed the statement of faith, and understanding it to be a summary of what members of Community Bible Church believe that the Bible teaches…

By the power of guidance of the Holy Spirit I Covenant:

  1. To walk together in Christian love (Ephesians 4:1–2)
  2. To exercise Christian care and watchfulness over one another (Col. 1:28; 1 Thess. 5:14)
  3. To pray with, and for one another, sharing our burdens, sorrows, and joys (Rom. 12:15; Gal. 6:2)
  4. To be thoughtful and courteous to one another, to be slow to take offense, and to be quick to forgive and to seek forgiveness (Matthew 18:15–35; Ephesians 4:1–2; James 1:19)
  5. To guard the spiritual and scriptural purity, peace, and prosperity of the church and its growth in scriptural knowledge and godliness (Matthew 18:15–17; Ephesians 4:13–14; 2 Timothy 1:13–14)
  6. To assist, as the Lord enables, in the work of the church and to promote its usefulness as a witness to the saving grace of God in Christ Jesus (Matt. 5:16; Rom. 12:11; Eph. 4:11–16)
  7. To be diligent in attending the Sunday worship service (Romans 15:5–6; Hebrews 10:24–25)
  8. To contribute, as the Lord directs, to the financial support of the church, the relief of the needy, and the evangelization of all people (Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 12:13; Galatians 6:6; 1 John 3:17)
  9. To love and pray for all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ (John 13:34–35; Romans 12:10; Ephesians 6:18)
  10. To engage regularly in personal Bible reading and study, and in prayer (Romans 12:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 2 Timothy 2:15)
  11. To bring up such children as may be entrusted to our care, with Christian instruction and discipline (Ephesians 6:4; Titus 1:6)
  12. To turn from all godless living and sinful pleasures, and to live consistent, God‐honoring lives (Titus 2:11–13)
  13. To endeavor to proclaim by example, word, and prayer the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 9:19–22; 1 Timothy 2:1–4)
